Tom Spengler co-founded Granicus, Inc. as Chairman and CEO in 1999. Under Tom’s direction, Granicus has risen to the top of the cloud-platform industry for government. Nearly 1,000 agencies use it to increase transparency, efficiency, and citizen participation.
It is that time of year again, with the holidays fast approaching and another year concluding, we can start reflecting on the past year. 2011 was truly amazing for Granicus. Despite continued constraints from the sluggish economy, we doubled our sales from 2010, added almost 200 new government agencies to our family, and made significant improvements to our cloud-based platform which will position us well for a new year of leadership in government transparency, efficiency, and citizen engagement!
One major win that defined our year was our acquisition of Daystar Computer Systems. This acquisition unified two of the industry’s leading legislative management and government transparency technologies. It helped us deliver even more value to our customers as well as meet rapidly growing market demands for end-to-end legislative automation by successfully integrating Daystar’s agenda management solution within Granicus’ Legislative Management Suite. We had several other exciting product enhancements this year – check out this webinar to get a recap of our successful product achievements.
We are also very excited to see our client base grow substantially this year to nearly 1,000 clients. The biggest addition of the year was United States Senate! Granicus now has both houses of Congress as clients.
As the year comes to an end, I’m reminded just how lucky Granicus is to have such top-performing, innovative government agencies as our customers. We saw the majority of winners in this year’s Digital Cities Survey and Digital Counties Survey used Granicus technologies for open government!
I’d like to personally thank our customers for their continuous belief and trust in Granicus, our team, and our products. You are true leaders in government who care about efficiency in your operations, transparency, and citizen engagement. We hope that next year Granicus is able to bring you even more valuable solutions to improve the way you run government and involve your constituents.
Finally, I want to thank the Granicus team for a great year. We have had some ups and downs as we progressed through the recession of 2009 and 2010, but in 2011 we really caught our stride again. Not only has your performance been truly impressive, but your cohesiveness as team has been heartwarming. It is one thing to be successful in a business, but it is a far greater achievement to be successful while nurturing a true family-like environment inside our organization.
Have a safe and wonderful holiday season!
