San Francisco, CA (October 30, 2008) – Granicus, Inc, the leading provider of government solutions for webcasting and legislative management, has been named one of the fastest-growing technology companies in Silicon Valley by Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 Awards Program. This prestigious program ranks Internet, Media, Entertainment, and Communications companies headquartered in the nation’s most-thriving tech marketplace – Silicon Valley. Rankings are based on percentage revenue growth over five years from 2003 to 2007. Granicus has experienced a 2,143% revenue growth over this period of time.
“Our ranking in the Deloitte Fast 50 reflects rapidly growing demands among government agencies for reliable and affordable software solutions that create transparency and improve public information processes – while reducing both communications and legislative costs,” said Tom Spengler, Co-Founder and CEO. “Although the economic downturn is hurting budgets, public agencies are quickly recognizing that technology investments serve as a critical tool to save short-term and long-term by enabling instrumental improvements to the way they do business.”
Beyond market conditions, the company also credits its ongoing success to its strong commitment to customer service and its ability to build a product that’s tailored specifically to the legislative processes of government. “Our business model blends software and service. This creates more opportunities for governments to improve open government and legislative efficiency without draining resources or staff time,” added Spengler.
Granicus’s increase in revenues of 2,143% from 2003 to 2007 resulted in a 12th ranking overall in the Technology Fast 50 for Silicon Valley. The average increase in revenues among Internet, Media & Entertainment, and Communication companies who made the Fast 50 for this region was 3,242%.
“Deloitte’s Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 companies have shown the strength, vision, and tenacity to succeed in today’s very competitive technology environment,” said Mark Jensen, Managing Partner, National Venture Capital Services, Deloitte & Touche LLP, in Silicon Valley. “We applaud the successes of Granicus and acknowledge it as one of the very few to accomplish such a fast growth rate over the past five years.”
To be considered, Technology Fast 50 entrants must: have operating revenues of at least $50,000 in fiscal year 2003 and at least $5,000,000 in fiscal year 2007; be headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area; be a "technology company," defined as a company that owns proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of its operating revenues; or devote a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology in a unique way does not qualify.
